For
most people the journey to the city or the island will mean a
flight to Athens International Airport Eleftherios
Venizelos at Spata which opened to commercial flights on 29th
March 2001. All international and domestic flights operate from
the new airport, located 27km northeast of Athens. Eleftherios
Venizelos has 163 check-in counters, 24 boarding bridges, 11 baggage
claim belts, a huge new shopping centre and is predicted to handle
16 million passengers per year. The following information links

ATM
facilities provided by Alpha Bank and Commercial Bank are available
at the Arrivals level in the main terminal building and the
Departures level between entrances 2-5. Olympic Airways have
kindly provided maps
of the new airport which show the different levels.

flights.
